Here are some tips to consider: We like to schedule our visits 6-12 months in advance but will consider other times if Dr. Gail’s schedule permits.
Before you contact our office, please ensure that you have already finished your planning so we can have all the necessary details.
Your costs should include an honorarium, transportation, meals and accommodations for Dr. Hayes.
What type of program do you need? Will it be an assembly program (or two) and/or classroom workshops? How many? Let us know.
When you contact The Don’t Give Your Away Program, a fact sheet about the proposed visit would be helpful. Include the name of your organization, address and phone number, and the name, phone number and email address of your organization’s contact person. Ask us for a Presentation Request Form.
Include information about when you want Dr. Gail to visit and a proposed schedule for the visit that lists each activity and the size and grade levels of audience members.
Dr. Gail does have set fees, but she will try and work with your budget. Our office will send a letter or email with her requirements.
Once we have agreed to visit, put everything in writing (including the honorarium, travel arrangements, and accommodations) as well as the event fact sheet and send it to our office a as confirmation.
As a suggestion: You may want to establish a fundraising committees to sponsor the visit, promote the visit, and make all of the logistical arrangements.
Keep in touch with our office as plans are confirmed and be sure to ask about materials needed for the visit, such as an overhead projector or a flip chart. With everything organized, you will be ready for a successful visit.
Power Tip If your organization’s budget is challenged, check with another school or public library and see if they can share in the sponsorship visit costs and have Dr. Hayes and The Don’t Give Your Away Program visit their facilities when they visit.
