About Dr. Gail Hayes |

When looking for a storyteller, writer, or speaker who ignites the atmosphere with inspiration, motivation, and contagious enthusiasm, you have but to look directly at Dr. Gail Hayes or Dr. Gail, as others affectionately call her. A gifted and much sought after communicator, Dr. Gail delivers messages that provoke others to action. She is bold, creative, amusing, compassionate and wise, all within the first few minutes of her sessions.
She has shared the stage with children’s education legends like Mr. McFeely from Mr, Rodgers Neighborhood and Lionel from Between the Lions. She is also a presenter in educational settings for children, educators, and parents alike.
As the daughter and wife of US military veterans, Dr. Gail lived in the Far East for over four years and in Europe for over ten years. These experiences allow her to relate to diverse audiences. The eldest of seven children, she grew up creating stories to keep her younger siblings entertained. She wrote and illustrated her first book at age eleven and won the school writing contest with her work.
Her clients include the Durham Public Schools, the University of North Carolina’s (UNC-TV) Public Educational Television, Chapel Hill/Carrboro City Schools, , North Carolina Central University, Clemson University, Durham Technical Institute, the City of Durham, the US Office of Personnel Management European Training Division, the US Army and Air Force, and the US Equal Opportunity Program. She also serves as a trainer and inspiration to educators and a motivator and encourager to children and parents alike.
You can hear Dr. Gail every Monday in over 35 markets in the nationally syndicated program, the KD Bowe Morning Show. She is the author of several books including Daughters of the King and Power Parenting, Battle Strategies to Equip Your Young Warrior in School and in Life. She is the creator the Locket & Pocket Socket™ Character Education Puppet Program, the Don’t Give Your Power Away™ Program, the Precious! Pretty! Powerful! ™ & the Mighty! Awesome! Powerful ™ Program & Book Clubs for Children and the Join the Club…Carry the Card™ Literacy Initiative. Her writing also appears in several anthologies and in parenting publications across the nation. She also writes a monthly column on character values.
Dr. Gail is a member of the University of North Carolina’s Public Education Television (UNC-TV) Literacy Advisory Board, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), the NC Association of Elementary School Educators, the NC Storytelling Guild, and the International Speakers Network (ISN). She also serves as a state judge for the Reading Rainbow® Young Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Contest.
